Detailed Information

Downtown Brunswick has a charm rooted in our railroad culture, canal history, and river and mountain resources. Brunswick is located 15 miles southwest of the City of Frederick, an hour’s drive from Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC, and next door to historic Harpers Ferry, WV.

Downtown Brunswick is situated directly on the C & O Canal National Historic Park (mile marker 55) and three miles from the Appalachian Trail, making it the ideal spot to launch day trips on the C & O Towpath or overnight while traveling the AT, C & O, or the Greater Allegheny Passage.

Brunswick’s historic downtown offers a variety of eats at independent mom & pop restaurants Grab coffee or sandwich in a former church turned café (complete with original stained glass windows and choir loft), sip craft beer in a firehouse-turned-brewery, or satisfy a craving for New York style pizza, authentic hummus and shawarma, or Maryland grass-fed burgers (or Impossible burgers) and ice cream within blocks of one another. Brush up on life in a turn-of-the-20th-century railroad town at the Brunswick Heritage Museum.

Brunswick has all the resources you need to spend a day or two exploring the outdoors on bicycle, foot, or kayak, and is the perfect “home away from home” to return to at night.  You’ll find lodgings for every style, including river-side camping, stylish short-term rentals, and king-size hotel beds.
